Name 17 - KasturiRasaLiptangi

KASTURIRASALIPTANGI

All Glories to Divine Mother!

I prostrate at the feet of Divine Mother Kali with the name KasturiRasaLiptangi. Kasturi means musk, Rasa means juice and Liptangi means limbs smeared with. So KasturiRasaLiptangi means the One whose limbs are anointed with the juice of musk. Musk is one of the substances used and offered in Holy bath. Divine Mother is the Holiest of the Holy. She rejoices in staying all decked up with the finest substances for Her Lord Mahadeva. Thus, She smears musk juice on to Her limbs while at Her ablutions. The usage of musk makes Her presence laden with the fragrance of musk which is elevating for the senses.

The musky fragrance which marks Divine Mother’s presence is symbolically indicative of the fact that there can be nothing unpleasant when the Devi is there in your life. Her aromatic existence is healing in itself that bails one out of the hurt gone through in countless past lives. It is full of warmth and comforting to the heart. Divine Mother’s descent in one’s life redolent with Her sweet scent gives exuberance to the soul and liberates from the mighty clutches of the ego.

Another symbolic significance of this name lies in the essence of goodness. What is good, oozes out good and vice versa. The Divine Mother is the most pious. She emanates so much good that it shuns evil of any kind. Her ambrosial presence cleanses the devotee of all negative tendencies and leads him towards Jnana and Nirvana, that is, wisdom and salvation. She empties the devotee first and then fills him up with Herself in such a manner that in that moment there is just Oneness with the Divine Mother.
