Name 20 - Kamini

All Glories to Divine Mother!

I bow down in sheer awe at the bewildering and mesmerizing Maya of MahaMayavini, my Divine Mother Kali. She chooses Her name 20 to be Kamini which repeats itself. We have seen Her name 14 is also Kamini. It’s the Divine Mother’s wish that we dwell on this name again, perhaps in a different light.

Kamini means a beautiful, loving and affectionate woman. Mother Divine is the sheer embodiment of beauty, love and affection. She is ‘the most’ beautiful and loving of all. She has unending lores woven and sung by Devas, Rishis, devotees all praising Her sublime beauty. Her bewitching eyes overflowing with love and compassion for Her entire creation are another world in themselves. With the stars of the galaxies studded in Her jewels, flowers known and unknown adorning Her bun, nine planets flecked in Her nose ring, Her appearance is simply astounding.

What can be spoken of Her love?! Divine Mother’s love and kindness flow like a cascading waterfall soothing the sore hearts of Her children. She knows nothing but love, simple pure love which calms the souls wandering from one life to another. Her kindness is such that She comes running at the slightest beckon of Her ardent devotee. She is ever caring, ever merciful. Her Grace is such, for reasons that She alone knows, that She can manifest Herself in front of one even when one has never even taken Her name in this life. Her Leela is beyond the precincts of an ordinary human being.

Isn’t it in this light that Kamini, meaning beautiful and loving, also means She who is ‘this desire’? What else is there to desire other than pure unconditional love of Maa and to stay forever nestled in Her care? Yet Her Maya is such that it creates a mirage of materialism that one keeps chasing, only waiting to realize in this life or some other to follow that it is She and She alone who is this desire, worth seeking and worth longing for.

Salutations to the One who prefers to be Kamini!
