PIECEFULL MIND OR PEACEFUL MIND

Piecefull Mind or Peaceful Mind

This is a true incident. It so happened the other day, the Team leader of one of the teams in a company dropped his resignation stating that he won’t be able to serve anymore and that the staff is capable enough to take care of the projects. This was the second time he had resigned in less than 3 months. Previously when he resigned the reason, on being asked, he told was that he was frustrated as there weren’t enough projects. He said it really pains to see the team looking for any real work and it was getting difficult for him to hold them together. The Director of the company tried to counsel him and said just this “This time shall change”. In less than 1.5 months time projects and work started rolling. So much so that his team actually took time to get their bearings. This time around when he resigned his reason was he felt frustrated enough again because he actually found it complicated to handle so many projects all at once. Whom to assign what, how to keep the tight deadlines, teammate issues stuff like that got him by his wits. This time again when the Director tried to talk sense to him she repeated the same thing. “This time shall change”.

Come to think of it. We actually get bothered about things going on around us so much, both on personal and professional fronts, that we feel this is it. We feel suffocated by either the quantity or magnitude or both of the things going on in our life. In desperation we try to make changes to the situations around by trying to move out of the scene or avoiding handling them. The funny thing however is we are not even sure whether the changes we are trying to make will make us feel any better. But at that time we are just too convinced that we are willing to take that risk.

Having said that, we forget that no matter how much we try to fix the external situation it is not going to make us any more peaceful that what we are. The truth is our minds have become PIECEFULL rather than PEACEFUL. The mind is too occupied at all times with so many different things that we get overwhelmed and don’t know how to get a hold of the situation and life. The problem is we fail to realise we are trying to look for an answer outside where it lies within us. Fixing the outside can just fix a situation, be it better handling of a client, project relationship or any other thing. It is just an action which the situation demands. Pure and simple. We may or may not be 100% right in acting the way we do when dealing with external situations. But if we are clear enough in our heads the chances are the action taken by us may tackle the situation effectively. However, if our mind is getting the better of us and it seems like nothing but a box full of pieces- of things, people, emotions chances are our vision will always be hazy and we won’t be able to make right decisions.

So, what to do? Take CHARGE. Quitting is never an option much less being an escape route to peaceful mind. If you are actually looking for peace of mind, sort the pieces of your mind piece by piece one at a time. What’s the rush? Handle them one by one moment by moment and you will see you are getting there. You will start catching hold of your breath again and the suffocation will go away. Eventually you will realise you were looking for something which is not outside but within you. Your PEACE.

The choice really is yours. You want to have a PIECEFULL MIND or a PEACEFUL MIND. Choose wisely.
